Brassholt — wondrous and routine

What to expect

Brassholt is a school for the study of magic — enchanted bell-towers, four great houses, cold rain and hot toast, and something in the woods past the grounds. The tone is warm and a little funny: the wondrous and the everyday sit side by side, and mischief is part of the point.

How magic works here

Magic here is learned — you can only Work what you have studied, from books, tutors, or a friend who will show you. With a focus in hand — a wand, a rod, a bell — a Working goes off cleanly. Without one, it can misfire in a way the world finds amusing more often than fatal. Charms do ordinary, marvellous things: a light, a mending, a nudge toward sleep.

A taste of an opening

“The sorting. The Great Hall is hot with two hundred students and forty staff and the four great fires of the four houses. Somewhere above, the Apparatus keeps time. Your name has not been called yet.”
