How magic works here
Magic is bond and sacrifice. There is no dice roll and no spellbook — to Work magic you swear a bond and give up something true: a real memory, a year of your mortal life, your given name, a feeling you will never feel again. The cost is permanent, and the bonds you swear stay with you where others can sense them.
