What is a turn, and what does it cost?
A turn is one reply from the Narrator. Reading the story, chatting with your table, rolling dice, and hearing the Narrator’s voice are all free — a turn is spent only when the Narrator writes back. The host buys a pack of turns for the table; you can see current pack sizes and prices on the store.
Do unused turns expire?
No. Unused turns roll over to your wallet and never expire. You can spend them to start a new tale, top up a live one, or reopen a finished tale and keep going. That is a promise: credits do not vanish.
Who pays?
The host pays; everyone they invite plays free. Guests never need an account or a card — one person covers the table and the whole group plays.
How do I turn on the Narrator’s voice?
Voice is an optional add-on the host can switch on for a tale — with it on, the Narrator reads each scene aloud. It is off by default. Players can also mute or unmute playback for themselves from the table menu.
How do I change the sound effects?
Sound effects — the dice, the stings, the world’s ambience — have their own toggle in the table menu, under Preferences. That is separate from the Narrator’s voice; you can have one without the other.
Does the game save? Can we resume later?
Yes. Your tale saves as you play, and the host can tap “End for today & save” to close a session cleanly. You pick it back up from the hearth another day, and the story recaps where you left off — each session becomes an “episode” you can look back on.
What if I need to step away mid-game?
Step away any time. Mark yourself away and the Narrator writes your character to the edge of the scene without speaking for you. When you come back, you are eased back in at a sensible moment — no one has to pause the whole table for you.
Is there a mature-content mode?
A host can mark a tale as mature, for adult tables. Anyone joining a mature tale confirms they are 18 or older first. If a tale is not marked mature, it stays suitable for a general table.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes — Adventure Engine runs in any phone browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens full-screen like an app. On iPhone, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”; on Android, use the install prompt when it appears. There is nothing to download from an app store, and nothing to update — you always have the latest version.
